What else can I say? The oldest and for me personally, the best pub in Jakarta.Awesome vibe, great crowd, the unique "honking" experience, and the live music is also very good. I rarely go to a pub or bar for the music, but Jaya Pub nails it.

Very nice place for music and food

I think this is one of the best pub that we found in Jakarta.When we sit and order the food, the band opening it with The Eagles' Love Will Keep Us Alive. I means, how many band that you know play that song, seriously? And their playlist keep getting better and better.Their Bratwurst is not better than Mama's House but its good enough.5/5, will come again. One of the oldest bars in Jakarta that still have some vibran ambiance. Located in the heart of the city, they still manage and keep the concept like the old days, the clientelles are broaden now than it used to be, a lot of young people come here, even they have special program for the youngsters by presenting young indie bands, once in a month.

Beer and live music. What else do you need.

A place that has been passed the test of time, many times! Nothing changed since they opened, even down to the details such as coaster and ashtray. The staff mostly remain the same since the 80s. Two home bands play until 3am, don't mind the sound quality or else, but you will sure have fun. Surprisingly the patron range from those on their 20s to 60s, and manage to blend well between generations.

After 14years living in Jakarta, I visited this pub last weekend in the end. As I know, the oldest pub in Jakarta as same old with me since 1976.There are many old expats with Indonesian girls and seems like very popular place due to so many people. Music was so old to me like 1970’s. Anyway this pub has own its history and it deserve to visit here, but I prefer in Kemang’s when I want to enjoy live music.

Good music ; one of the oldest pubs in Jakarta . Unfortunately there is no place for non smokers who have to suffer in silence ; while smoke is blow in your face . The music is so good , it makes up.

This is Jakarta's oldest surviving pub. And Yes it's a place to be if you like live music. Filled with expats from across the world. Retro look and feel, very friendly staff. You can request your song to the live band, they might ask you to sing it along on the stage. Good finger food options from across cuisines. Good days to visit - Fri, Sat & Sun. Try get your self inside by 8:00pm, else would get crowded.Bottom line - If you are visiting Jakarta, this place is a must try.

The Jaya pub feels like an old pair of shoes, perhaps not the best to look at but once you step through the door its immediately comfortable. I've not been back here for 30 years (!) but the place feels like it was back in the day.Noisy, smoky and rundown, probably the best place in Jakarta to enjoy live music, a rowdy crowd and a good selection of drinks. No objections to singing along on stage with the band if you feel particularly talented :-)

The oldest pub in Jakarta. This place has seen things!!! Wooden, smelling of cigarette smoke, old pictures hanging on the walls. The experience is nothing short of fantastic. The more you come to this place, the more you learn about the place and the legend it is. Everything things here from the furniture to the patrons to the bartenders, everyone and everything has an interesting story.Come here after 9pm, the bands are brilliant, every day sees a new band and a different genre.Cheers!

With their old chairs and tables, staff' and the toilet that is just ok , I consider their drinks are expensive.

They play 80s - 90s music. Reasonable prices (except that their coca cola is as expensive as a mocktail 😂). The seating availability is very limited since the guests are so many. Better to arrive a little bit early to secure your seat/table. It's a fun place!

Last nite we try Spaghetti bolognese and panfried sole butter capper ........ nyam nyam

Classic pub, one of the icons of Jakarta. Opening in the mid '70s, this place has been a haven for expats and Indonesians alike, with a ripper band performing most evenings. The staff have been working there for over 30 years as well, adding to the experience of being transported back in time.

The Jaya Pub.It is a bar or old tavern that has been in this business for decades. As I recall, when I was in school this bar had already there in the same place in the same building until the present day when I grew up and find out this bar is still survived. So this place is a kind of legend from generation to generation.If you come to this bar, the nuances you will find rare oldies.The place, the bar and the music are not so much different.You can come here to listen to the old songs, about the year of the 70 or 80. If you go there this is not only a bar but a place to dine as well at an affordable price. Most of the visitors are foreigners and expatriates but some Indonesian guys love to be there too, mostly come from the old generations.

The atmosphere was nice, very friendly staff, and plenty of western pub grub on offer - this is a decent pub/ bar for anyone looking for a casual drink in a pub that also offers live music. There is a bar counter, and there are tables around the edge of pub, above which hang horns that you can honk if you enjoy the music (fun!) A billiards table is also available. The crowd when I was there was a mix of international and local. On the evening I was there, things livened up considerably around 9pm when the band took the stage, drawing in more customers and regulars (it was pretty empty before then - actually fine if you want a quiet drink earlier in the evening.) I would give it a higher score but I think it needs a bit of renovation, however if in the area and in need of a drink and a band, this is the place I would go!

It is must be a recognized places for migrant workers, or foreigners, who are staying in Jakarta. Almost every night, they gather here in group or personal. The entertaining home band is also a charming issue.When you enter this place, you are amazed with 80's or 90's atmosphere and environment. Including the songs. If you like to play pool, there is one installed pool in the corner.The price of beverages and foods are also affordable. Spending much time here since then.

Tight enclosed room turned into ashtray. Been to different pubs that allow smoking but the ventilation in here is just terrible. Wait staff are grumpy not hospitable or maybe it's just the racist bias they have. Band they had during my visit plays instruments good but have terrible vocals.

Great place to hang out, superb live music! The Jaya has literally always been there! Best Pub I know!

Brings up the good old times, vibes & music. In a busy city of Jakarta, the best pub I've ever been in on this town so far.

Jaya still maintain its authentic messy look in the new building within Gedung Jaya compound. They succeededly restored all trivia quotations and posters in the new building. The smell of an old wooden bar mix with beer flavor and vintage sanitary is still there.

A cozy dive bar with a good atmosphere and nice live music plus good service. But it is very overpriced and there really is no affordable drink options. Seriously 70k for a small beer or 50k for a can of coke? These prices just don't match the environment! I enjoyed this place but these prices are insane and they only have a happy hour on Monday + Tuesday.

Enjoy night club here, old building, nice and friendly staffs and you can play billiard for free. Nice live music as well, you will listen to old school songs here.

Old bar with unique and vintage ambience. Had a super fun night. Great music for 90's gen and older. Definitely not a place for those who wants to dance to club music. Price is also reasonable.

Sometimes be quiet. Sometimes with live music like queen, sing along. Pocket ball within. Anytime it was a restfull place for me.

This pub is fabolous. The pub itself has already been there for 25 years. They also got a pool. The musics era are 70's until early 90's, they play some country music as well. The ambience and staffs are so friendly. The drinks are also great, however it's a bit pricey. Their special drink is "cendana", I believe it's a strong mixed of vodka, gin, whiskey, limes, cherry liquor; only God knows what's inside. I also ordered the singaporean sling, the taste is standard.

Great place if you want to feel Europian style in Jakarta. Many foreigners, good beer and food.

First comin here circa 2015, and still comin here biweekly/ at least once a month.For me its an old gem in Central Jakarta. 70's-80's vibes are ready to serve. Even the POS like a pc running with DOS. You can find the toet toet there, a kind like little honk which we often see it placed on abang siomay/cilok as the claps or cheering tools when the band/performer do something amusing. The bartender and the waitress looks like Dono Kasino Indro's era pub style. Don't forget about the band's playlists from evergreen love song to 80's glam rock always ready.Ah, this place also a place for a special event called SUPERBAD, (only once like in a quarter, not regularly).That event is great, especially if you like or interest in indonesia indie music scene.

Personally this is not my type of pub that i would like to go, but the vibe is very classic, very typical western pub. if you like to travel back in time, this is the perfect place. they played (mostly) hits from the 60s to 90s. They also offered very reasonable price for the drinks and meal. all and all good vibe only!

Best place to listen to live music

This is me and my boyfriend's favorite bar in Jakarta because of their old and retro atmosphere. We love their music every Saturday night and the ambience will make you feel like you're going back in time to the 60's or 70's. Not much variation of beer though and their price rates are targeted to expats budget.
